Bridge lights

Concept of a bridge light

A bridge light is a light installed on a pier or a girder of a bridge, other than lights that are required for traffic on the bridge and ornamental lights, and it is used as a guiding mark for ships that navigate under the bridge. The Japan Coast Guard defines it as a navigation beacon and there are established standards specifying various conditions for its installation, such as where it should be installed, lighting quality and how it should be maintained.
