From the 1970s to the present, Zeni Lite have proposed various monitoring buoys equipped with variety of monitoring functions to suit each site' oceanographic and survey period conditions.

Fishing Ground Water Temperature Monitoring Buoy

  • This relatively simple observation buoy is equipped with a water temperature sensor and a low-power telemetry device.
  • Water temperature at multiple depths is measured according to the requirements of each aquaculture fishery ground.
  • There is also a small size model that can be installed and collected by fishing boats available.
  • The system is operated by mobile phone communications.

GPS Wave Measurement Buoy

  • Waves in certain areas such as offshore construction sites and offshore work sites can be measured for marine safety and marine survey purposes.
  • Using GPS positioning data, waves (wave height, wave direction, period) measurement can be performed with high accuracy.
  • GPS-based wave measurement improves the accuracy of actual measurements through wavefront tracking performance and weight-related motion compensation.

Thermal Drainage Monitoring Buoy

  • The system contributes to facility management by constantly monitoring the thermal drainage from power facilities with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Typically spar or cylindrical types are proposed depending on the drainage conditions from the facility, the purpose of the monitoring and the installation conditions.

Meteorological/Hydrological Monitoring Buoy

  • Continuously observes weather and sea conditions at fixed points in the bay and collects and analyses data over a long period of time.
  • Disk-shaped buoys with a wide deck area are adopted to ensure safe maintenance of the various measuring instruments.
  • Spar-type buoys are suitable for use in bays where the installation area is restricted due to the large number of vessels navigating the bay.

In-Port Current Monitoring Buoy

  • Monitors the current conditions (current direction/speed) in the port at a fixed point.

Offshore Meteorological/Hydrological Monitoring Buoy

  • High-wave resistant weather/wave monitoring buoy suitable for a long-time deployment in the open sea.
  • Lithium batteries for the whole planned deployment period of one year were equipped.
  • The photo was taken in 1990 when a fixed-point observation was made at the Yamato Bank (300m depth) in the Sea of Japan for one year.

Monitoring Buoys for Dams and Lakes

  • Monitoring buoys for water quality management mainly designed to be installed in dams, reservoirs and lakes.
  • Designed taking into account special installation conditions in dams such as large water level fluctuations, freezing, acidic water, etc.

Small-Size Water Temperature Monitoring Buoy

  • A high-precision water temperature sensor with a measurement error of ± 0.1°C is used to monitor water temperature data and voltage status.
  • Hybrid communication method is adopted, when the signal of the mobile phone is poor, it automatically switches to Iridium satellite communication.
  • The hybrid communication system has earned a high reputation as a system that can supply monitoring data without delay even in the event of a disaster.
  • A bathymetric water temperature sensor selects up to 4 layers of water temperature measurement items and acquires the correct depth layer data.

  • Solar cell modules are completely waterproof and can withstand use at sea.

Current Direction/Speed, Water Temperature Monitoring Buoy

  • Typically installed in fixed nets and fishing grounds in inland bays and coastal areas.Currents and water temperature can be monitored in real time.
  • The buoy is made of aluminum alloy housing and resin float and weighs about 50 kg and is designed to withstand long-term operation with high buoyancy and stability.
  • Deep cycle batteries are used as a power source, and it can be operated for about half a year on a single charge.

Small-type Wave Height Measurement Buoy

  • Highly reliable wave height measurement buoy that is reliable, easy to operate, lightweight and low-cost. (NETIS registration number: SKK-170002-A)
  • Due to its small size and light weight (20 kg), it can be installed and collected manually.
  • Data communication using specified low-power wireless is adopted. There is no need for communication contracts or communication costs.
  • The dedicated receiving antenna allows measurement data to be received in real time on a PC.
  • It is possible to analyze spectra and other information from the recorded data with dedicated software.

GPS- Type Wave Measurement System

  • By installing a GPS wave measurement device on an existing buoy, wave observation can be performed.
  • The communication device can be selected from either LTE communication method or iridium satellite communication method.
  • With use of GPS data obtained by the buoy motion, high accuracy wave data (wave height, wave direction and wave period) will be measured.
  • By utilizing existing buoys, it is possible to save the time and cost of buoy manufacturing.
  • Based on the existing buoy movement cycle, wave analysis is performed using our original analysis program.
  • Existing buoys to be equipped with this equipment shall be limited to buoys designed and manufactured by Zeni Lite.
